I have started to notice, the very first things I want to share are negative things that have or are currently happening to myself or around me. I falsely believe that by somehow putting these things out I will help others going through similar things and we can connect and heal each other. Over the past few days I have never come to such a painful realization about how terribly wrong I have been.
I think it's about time I confess to myself in writing how my mindset is in dire need of a change and the solution I already know will fix it.. So here we go, I am going to lay out my keys to happiness and start following my own advice.

Dear Monica,

Dear Monica,
First, go ahead and think about all the negative things going on in your life, feel self pity, wallow a bit...done? Then promptly move your sorry butt on to the next step.
Second, put yourself to the side and look at the people and world around you. Notice the lives revolving so closely around you and the lives across the world. Really look for the stories and get to know as many pieces of as many lives as possible.
Third, slow down, go to a quiet place or put on your favorite music, and think. Think about the lives of the billions of people sharing the same planet as you and how their lives differ from yours.
Did you read this article about women from across the world?

What about this one? It's not so far away.

I bet you feel really silly now, don't you?
What were you complaining about to yourself before...? That you might be tight on money to graduate college when you have yet to have any debt? That your car has been having problems? That a few people have said some mean things? Yeah... I bet you feel really silly now.
Instead, what are you thinking about now? What about how thankful you are to have a body that is not melted away from abuse, how you are so thankful to have your family alive and well around you, how the 'mean' things people said to you seem so childish now and how grateful you are to have the opportunity to drive and go to school in the first place?
Now you're thinking about your amazing fiance, the dear friends that have stuck around when all the others have left, and the family that would do anything for you, and I bet you're even thinking about those people who you may have been cursing out inside your head and realize they are human, just like you. They only see their own view, just like you. Feel a bit hypocritical? Everyone acts within their frame and filter of the world and their life and unless they purposely leave that view, they know nothing else. So what do you do now? Let's go look at some more lives.
What about this little guy?

And these men?

Tearing up a little? Feel like ripping off your clothes and throwing them at people and hugging all the animals you see? Well, calm down. That's creepy. Now... rethink your life and even just today over again. You know what thoughts you were dwelling on before, what are you thinking of now?
Do you remember the kind older woman you held the door open for earlier? She said 'God bless you' and smiled so wide. Do you remember the woman who helped you at the DMV who admired your engagement ring and congratulated you and your fiance even though you were strangers? Do you realize you drove your car around solely because your father spent the last two weeks fixing it, even though your mother needed his help? Do you remember when you got home and almost burst into tears because of financial things, how your fiance rubbed your shoulders for hours and watched a horror movie (your favorite) with you even though he hates them? Do you realize that you are alive and breathing and have your whole life in front of you?

Now tell me again why you were having a bad night?
That's odd, I can't seem to remember anymore...
You're Welcome.
